Hupfeld Hoerder

Hupfeld Hoerder is one of the veterans of the Fijian fashion industry, one of The First and one of The Few true designers, but even he says he still has a lot to learn.
Currently doing his PhD in Sustainable Fashion in Sydney, Hoerder said that his recent collection, shown at FFW22 in May was “inspired by [his studies] because for each collection I have to think of how I can make a low impact on the environment, by using more natural fibres and renewable energy.”
For this year’s Fiji Fashion Week (Fiji’s biggest party), Hoerder showed a wearable map of Fiji’s flora and oceania using recycled material  “I used offcuts and left over pieces from my old collections to do the pencil skirts.”
As usual Hoerder’s colour palette ranged all shades of the rainbow with understated, graphic patterned beiges punctuating the vibrancy and velvet!  This writer loved the devoré velvet pencil skirts in vibrant hues of blues.
Splashed across most of the pieces was Hoerder’s fabulous logo, a sexy pair of heels with a Hoerder signature print.
This gave the feminine silhouettes (other Hoerder signatures like peplums and mermaid hem gowns) an edgier feel AND rode the trend of heritage logos, yes. they’re back… and if you covet Gucci on your chest and Balenciaga on your bag, then you should also similarly revere our established veterans.
Hoerder is a storyteller and his wearable art has been representing the lush beauty of Fiji for decades.  When you wear an HH piece, you’te wearing a work of heart by a master artist.
Our stunning model Sharon Mani is the perfect canvas for Hoerder’s FFW Resort 2022 collection.
