South Africa’s entrant to the Miss Universe beauty pageant is DIVINE.

Usual type of contestant, highly accomplished, extremely polished and beautiful

The favourite to “win”. I hope she does. I explain why below.

I am vocal about why pageants are not my thing but also say that I DO understand that young Women of communities that get marginalised (my wording is deliberate)… see pageants as a chance to showcase and represent their country and/or racial grouping.

I don’t see it that way but as I have privileges and opportunities that get me choices, I am not a detractor and will always support the young Women I personally know*, who represent their countries and communities.

[*the young Women I know who were/are pageant titleholders, are all highly motivated, accomplished, humble and gorgeous. EXACTLY the kind of People you would want representing your country on any stage.]

What has kept me monitoring Miss Universe is that it is owned by Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip.

“A media entrepreneur and digital content distributor in Thailand, Jakrajutatip is the current owner of the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA beauty pageant organizations.

Jakrajutatip became the first trans woman who fully owns these organizations in their history.

I have followed this story because of the “controversy” (link in comments section)

… AND that Ms Govendar, who was originally crowned runner-up was eventually and rightfully given the right to represent her country of birth on an international stage, as Miss Universe SA.

I gave myself some time to go through footage and articles, it does feel ICK having to compare people who have accomplished such great things AND THEN weighing all that against their beauty and presentation.

Sorry but… it’s either OR.

By ALL ASPECTS and perspectives, taking into account credibility AND presentation, Ms Govendar deserves to win, heck, forget win, everyone else go home, she is IT and she is beautiful and she is now.

ULTIMATELY Miss Universe is a BEAUTY pageant and it is the PREVAILING BEAUTY IDEAL of the times that decides the winner.

(It doesn’t matter what you do and have done, it is still a beauty pageant and ultimately beauty will decide who the winner is.)
