A STARRY NIGHT

Buluuy Mirri means “Black Star” in Gomeroi.

Designer Colleen Tighe-Johnson, Gomeroi Woman, unites ancient tales with futuristic silhouettes, using fashion as her unique form of cultural storytelling.

Fashion is a language after all and a chronicler of the times.

Buluuy Mirri’s sustainable, wearable artworks honour and pay homage to Aboriginal Dreamtime stories.

The collection shown here is the Honey Bee Collection, launched in 2021.

“The Honey Ant Collection tells the story of the Queen Honey Ant and honours our matriarchal ways.

“Queen Honey Ant determines everything. Without Her, there is NO LIFE!“- Buluuy Mirri

The Honey Bee collection shown here will be an opening feature of PAC Gala 2025. (See featured story – PAC GALA IS BACK!).

Tighe-Johnson accepted the invitation to open PAC Gala 2025 to “showcase diverse skills, enhance creative input into fashion and arts and… to continue implementing change.”

Buluuy Mirrii will be showing at Australian Fashion Week in May and then in Milan in September this year.
