“I am not a critic, I am a lover of Australian fashion, I treasure my vintage Aus labels. Some that I have had since the 90s, which makes me cry about what I let go of in the 80s like Lisa Ho khaki linen crossback dress with a bustle. Sigh.

An 80s teen, influenced by Eurostralia’s avant-garde sense of style back then, gatekept of course, the segregation more obvious, the appropriation more open but what was created felt progressive with purpose. Omni-wearable art.

Fashion is a language, clothing words, style… how you speak. People feel vulnerable when naked but clothing reveals a lot.

The IMG led platform is no more, AFW is back in old hands with a NEW VISION in 2025. Looking forward to seeing what that means because the old vision had cataracts. Not just because ‘equality’ diluted excellence.

It’s not just the lack of creative nous, in 2025 it’s the lack of cultural INTELLIGENCE.
Optics wise, races and faces trend. Decisions? Look at staff photos.

Multiculturalism seems to confuse mono-mental peeps. It’s seen as outside of the ‘norm’, which is why it’s labelled ‘inclusivity’.

How/Should we include them are the questions asked instead of Are We In An Aquarium?

I understand exclusivity. Keeps the standard high. Equitable.
Elitism is incestuous. Eventually gives birth to well, you all like GoT.

I am honoured that I get accredited by the bodies that govern such things.

I am a fashion writer, presenter and photographer, of course I enjoy being acknowledged and thrive getting to use my skills for the benefit of others.

Having said that, as known as I am, I am no one important. I say this with peaceful acceptance* and just a touch of disappointment that I haven’t been utilised properly by the Aus fashion industry. A familiar story…
