RUCKS n ROLLS

THINKING ABOUT RUGBY.

We like Rugby. We like thinking.
We like thinking about rugby because rugby requires thinking.

We finish the story of the “toxic male” in the room…

Also we would like to be your friendly neighbourhood commentators for RWC27.

Ep 1: Why we love Rugby; the best position in a team; our fave teams and… we meet the toxic male in the room. [Hint: the one with the cap…….]

FUN FACT

Rucks and Rolls …was the name of Sandhya’s old blog (mid 00’s) dedicated to Rugby.

RWC Fanalysis (with @duaneleewai made scones and tea for high brunch).

…FIJI… ENOUGH SAID. FIJI 22 – AUSTRALIA 15 …but we still love the Wallabies.

They’re playing like they’re worthy of playing at that level …but FIJI was NEXT level.

FIJI came to play Rugby, not entertain. That famous flair was used to dazzle their opponents, while they unfurled their excellence.

The Wallabies need win their next match against Wales to go through …BUT… for FIJI to go through… Aust will have to lose. Regardless of how DESERVING Fiji is, that is how the pool points work. Come on Wallabies. Do it for Fiji. Lose. Then you can all go and have an extended holiday in Fiji (I mean, half the team is Fiji origin anyway… and that’s what Rebel Wilson would want you to do).

Besides, I felt*, and Duane had agreed, that The Wallabies should have boycotted the RWC23 to show solidarity with The Wallaroos. [*”felt” instead of FEEL because we have unpacked this further. TUNE IN NEXT WEEK]

FIJI didn’t go to France to change everyone else’s mind. As the captain, Waisea Nayacalevu said they “came to change our [their] mindsets”.

Half the miracle is KNOWING you can do it. When the time and the miracle happens, are you ready? .

I am wearing a 70s made in Aus, chiffon gown and a 90s cap, in the colours I most associate with FIJI; blue seas and red hibiscus …but also, the blue sky and red earth of the ancient land that is now Australia. Duane is wearing an IRB official FIJI art-print t-shirt from RWC 2003, held in NSW. (I went to all the Fiji and Aus matches and was a Rugby blogger/feature writer back then).

THE LIVES OF OUR [RUGBY] DAYS The men’s Rugby World Cup has started. Fiji v Wales this morning. The Flying Fijians have finally grounded themselves* …and now watch them soar.
