“I first travelled to China for a month-long beauty pageant in Shanghai (which is when these photos were taken). I missed the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China on that trip, but then I got obsessed with exploring China, so I have been 3 times, visited 8 cities so far.” – Gitali

2. Time travel: when, where and why?
Back to when the indentured labourers were first brought to Fiji under colonialism.
3. What are you most grateful for?
My Mother, she’s an incredible personality who has winged and watered my dreams and shown me how nothing is impossible.

5. What colour would you use to describe yourself?
White- like a blank canvas and I fill it with colors of my life and everything I do.
6. Name a book that had an impact on you and why.
‘The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter And How to Make the Most of Them Now’ by Meg Jay
Everything is so difficult. this book has really helped me as I stepped into my 20s last year, to have a better grasp on how to do life.
8. What thing keeps you going on hard days?
Connecting with nature. I like taking a break from everything, including online, and going on long walks and hikes.
I sit and watch the sunset and binge eat my favorite junk food!
9. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done (so far)?
I hitch hiked to Mayon Volcano in Bicol, Philippines 5 hours before my flight with a dead phone to zipline!
However, that’s the experience that now makes sure I am always prepared with go pros, batteries and power banks!
10. What’s your idea of a perfect holiday?
Beach. Bikini. Margarita… I am an island girl!
I love the sun and sand waves at my feet, so the perfect holiday for me would be to visit my home islands in Fiji and be at the beach all day everyday, dusk till dawn.
11. If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?
1. my phone so I can take photos and videos
2. my favorite blanket
3. pink sunnies that my German friend Antonia gave me.
I don’t think I would mind not having anything else. I’m not as materialistic but the above 3 is a deal breaker for me at 20!
I don’t have tattoos as my mum is very much against it 🙂
…but I have been forever dreaming of getting a little coconut tree in a fine line tattoo style at the back of my ankle.
13. What’s your biggest indulgence?
FOOD! I’ll try anything and everything.
14. Do you believe in reincarnation?
Strongly.
15. Is there a movie you could watch over and over again?
The Conjuring or Hunger Games
16. What is your style signature/your favourite look?
I’m always rocking denim jeans and a shirt with red heels [classic off-duty model style – Editor’s Notes]
17. Do you think there’s life on other planets?
I’m not certain but I’m not limiting myself to the assumption that there’s no other life outside of planet Earth
18. What do you want to be remembered for?
The islands never caged the girl. She did it all!
They’d definitely say how bubbly, chatty and crazy I am and that I’m kind and a go getter.

1. I can never sit still, I need to be up and moving, major FOMO
